you can stop shopping for new tools now

My recent fall into the depths of the Heated Rivalry fandom rabbit hole has me exploring romantic plot lines more closely than I ever have before.

Through my very academic studies, I have concluded that many two-people-are-meant-to-be-together-but-get-lost-along-the-way plots are all about both parties missing information and context about each other.

If they just KNEW some important information that we, the audience, already have -

(I recently learned this is called "Dramatic Irony". It's a storytelling tool where the audience knows key information that the characters do not. Neat huh?

IE: You are both gay and don't know it! He really likes you but is afraid to say so because ✨trauma✨! He thinks you're married!)

- those two lovebirds would get together much faster and there wouldn't be much plot for romance fans to white knuckle through as the yearning builds.

Idk about you, but I prefer to experience my anxiety through the safety of a book or a TV box.

I am not trying to bring this yearning into my day job ala the tools I use.

IT'S A TALE AS OLD AS TIME:

Scene 1: You hear about a popular tool that you allegedly need for your business.

Your coach uses ClickUp, so you invest in ClickUp. A podcast guest raves about Notion, so you invest in Notion. Someone in a Slack group swears by Asana, so, well, you get it.

Scene 2: You take the leap and invest time and money into setting up said tool.

Scene 3: The tool never really takes off. You kind of use it, and then it just sits there as an expense in your bookkeeping software. And you're just a wee bit meh about.

❌Sometimes this happens because you and this tool are not meant to be together and you didn't know that before committing.

😘And other times, the tool is GREAT for you - but you don't have the time and space to read through ALL of the context and documentation to know for sure or how to even integrate this tool into your life.

AKA - You don't know what the audience (ME!) knows about the both of you!!!!!! I read all the chapters about the tool already!

(THIS IS HOW I EXPERIENCE "DRAMATIC IRONY" AT WORK.)

So, SCENE 4: you continue this will-they-wont-they with a tool: paying for it, spending time with it, but never really clicking.

That's why my current philosophy is ROOTED in process mapping the systems we are building first, and deciding on tools second.

And that tool selection starts with what you already have in your tech stack.

We just set it up properly and train your teamso they can get the most out of it.

Other times, we pivot to new tools that are more aligned.

The process is the North Star. Everything else (the software, the automations, the team delegation), revolves around that.

If you have a tech stack you aren't super confident about - consider me your tool match maker 😘

I learn you and your business intimately.

I know (or learn) the tools you need intimately.

Then I put you together and shout KIIIISSSSS!!!!!

I mean -

Set the tool up for YOUR business, and then train your team on said tool.
