I planned more, created more… and landed in a film festival 🌵
In my early 20s, I co-produced a short documentary at a large festival (I WON’T SAY WHICH ONE, but maybe you can guess 😬).
My team had big binders, spreadsheets, late nights - we came PREPARED!
And when we got there, time literally ceased to exist — our watches quickly started showing completely different times, so we never actually knew what time it was. (hahahahahahahaah @ me)
Cell phones had no service, so we just left them in our RV.
It was the wild west… and our documentary filming still went on without a hitch.
We had bikes for the desert floor, routines for cleaning our cameras after sandstorms, and binders we could flip open whenever we felt lost.
We kept our cameras with us and caught interviews as we crossed paths with people.
We knew exactly how to set up an interview on the fly, even when we were in the midst of some very delightful chaos.
Meanwhile, I ...
practiced yoga taught by a robot at midnight.
sang karaoke with a live band serving miso soup.
rollerskated in the desert (pictured here)
danced to a sunrise DJ set.
I was in full presence and pure creativity. Full presence.
All that magic didn’t happen instead of the plan — it happened because of it.
